Three primary functions of the church are worship, word, and witness, like the Trinity
Recent church movements; seeker sensitive, event-driven, and faith deconstruction
Always about Christ, Good Samaritan about Jesus, he binds, heals, returns
Want authentic life, hate hypocrisy, yet we live it, many give up, can’t do it
How can I live it? Not hypocrisy vs integrity, but beyond integrity to probity
Integrity trustworthiness incapable false; Probity is proven integrity, keep living
An authentic life is about keeping going, not giving up
Eph 4:12-13 …equip… so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
God’s word is the answer to everything, keeping it in our lives, how to live Authentically
The word of God alone can satisfy deep spiritual hunger!
The more you have his word the more you hunger for his word
The word of God alone can counteract false heresies!
It is about knowledge of Christ, pearl and treasure
The word of God alone can guide us in our daily living!
What does it mean to live authentically in our daily life?
Eph 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing one another in love.
Being authentic is not about being you, being me, but being Him!
Romans 15:5 …the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had
Luke 13 woman called, released, touched, Sabbath; authentic life is selfless
They were indignant, wine ferments, anger grew compassion left, called a hypocrite
Actors wore masks to act another way; underneath the mask, Jesus’metaphor
Their inauthentic life cares more about animals than this woman’s healing
Mark 12:16 They brought the coin… “Whose image is this, whose inscription?”
What’s in your pocket, hanging on to that is keeping you from living authentically?
Gal 2:11 profound authentic failure, Paul facing Peter; Peter feared nothing
Fear of others and failure creates an inauthentic life; hypocrisy always spreads
Gal 2:13 The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.
