The Big Reveal!
Big reveal a plot device, exposing unseen character or plot, floor ripped, jaws drop
Ex: I see dead people, Luke; I am your father, Mary; you’re having virgin birth!
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
At Christmas, we sing of angels, shepherds, Mary, Wise Men, and even a drummer boy!
Hark line: Veiled in flesh the Godhead see, Hail, the incarnate deity, Pleased as Man with men to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel.
Jesus wasn’t just veiled in the flesh, God behind a curtain, but God revealed in the flesh
Incarnation, God the Son, Jesus, fully God, was joined to human flesh and nature
Jesus came as the Immanuel, God with us, not just to hang out; he came for the: Big Reveal!
He came to be seen that we might see the glory and love of God for us, see God
OT prophets yearn for it, a big reveal of God coming as man, only the beginning
God with us, but there’s more: heals us, died for us, and raised us in power; God in us
But there’s more; Christians revealing Christ, you are the next big reveal!
1 Cor 15:49 Just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.
We’re to reveal the new nature of Christ in us by being transformed, revealing him.
To a lost, dying world, pray come to Jesus, he says yes, in you revealing me to others
John 2:11 What Jesus did… was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
Are you revealing his glory so others can believe, how can I turn water to wine?
Taking hungry and giving food, taking hopeless, giving love, taking hurting, help
Revealing His passion for the outcast!
Jesus heal the man blind from birth; theological discussion, society rejected him
John 9:34 And they threw him out.
This sinful world chews up and spits out people all time, a big reveal God uses you
Jesus sought him and found him
What you seeking? Gifts, peace, God, the outcast? Wise seek God, Godly seek…!
Revealing His path of sacrifice and love!
Jesus teaches on the good shepherd and how he is the gate and shepherd
Thief comes only kill, steal and destroy Jesus gives life and living if fully, then
John 10:12-13 The hired one …abandons the sheep and runs away …because he …cares nothing for the sheep.
Hirelings only support and stay around, give, serve when it is easy and comfortable
Jesus laid down his life but some just ghost others in need instead of staying
How married 37 years? Not going anywhere, not stick it out, love it out
Revealing your place of acceptance!
John 10:22 Then came the Festival of Dedication…
What we now call Hanukkah, celebrating the cleansing of the temple
An abomination of desolation 170 BC Antiochus, Titus in 70 AD and again last days
They urgently sought the messiah to come cleanse them of Romans, he came for sin
Every time he spoke of the real cleansing, they tried to kill him, until he left
He went to the other side of the Jordan, to the lost, hurting, rejected, seeking
John 10:42 And in that place many believed in Jesus.
Final abomination, last days, not temple, but Christians hearts, idols, no place…
