Storm Breaker

Jesus is the Storm Breaker!

The theological issue is Sanctification

How do we understand sanctification?

Holiness is personal, separated, and belonging

1 Peter 2:9 you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession…

Holiness is always an inward working outward process

Titus 2:14 Jesus Christ …gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Eager means zealous, radical doing good, giving all to try to accomplish them

2 Cor 7:1 Let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

Christ giving purifies us and enables us to purify ourselves in all we do

Jesus taught us how to live in his sermon, understand sanctification, storm breaker

Matthew 7:24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

We do not get to pick and choose which words of Jesus to follow

We fail because we filter Jesus’ words, instead of Jesus filtering our lives

1 Cor 6:19-20 You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.

Storms of life come, the degree to which we stand is found in our eagerness to put all His words into practice

Jesus ate good food with bad people

The first Adam fell at the table; last Adam restored us at a table, last supper
