The Last Stone
The Last Stone!
Jacob wrestled with reality not meeting expectations on his journey
Gen 28:20-22 If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey… this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house…
He set up a stone to remind him he was in God’s house; God’s presence is with him
The first stone is the Presence stone!
Zechariah’s building of the temple gives us a picture of the church and our sanctification
Zech 4:6 Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.
They will have the power in the Spirit to flatten mountains, throw in the sea
The second stone is the Spirit stone!
We build not by might or power; we walk in sanctification led by his Spirit
Zech 4:10 Who dares despise the day of small things, since the… earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone.
The small beginnings are not an indication of how it will end, be led, walk
The end will be the capstone, with shouts of grace, grace, completed in grace
Led by the Spirit is seeing past the now to bigger, greater, things, sanctification
The greatest hindrance to our sanctification is not renewing our mind, it’s been enabled
The third stone is the Mind stone!
1 Corinthians teaches us that we have the mind of Christ
Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Be careful where you leave your mind; keep putting it above
Our minds have been set on this world and the things of this world
The last stone is the Victory Stone!
Rev 2:17 To the victorious one, I will give… a white stone with a new name written on it
The judge makes the verdict, and the advocate takes the stone and places it in the hand
We open our hands, a white stone, how? Jesus, “I took the black stone for you”
Stone has our name; a white stone with your name meant special guest at a feast
We have been declared innocent and invited to feast with the father at his table
Don’t stand with hands shut tight, afraid to open it because we know we are guilty
But if we hold the wrong stone, the victory is lost!
