Washington at Delaware river, 2/3 didn’t cross, he was 3 hours late, storm
Pregnant moments, hang in the balance when we come up short, all goes wrong
But surging forward comes from knowing how to Stumble Forward!
What is the big theological point in stumbling forward? Justification in Christ
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Fall short, not miss the mark, but to come in late, to be left behind; missing plane
Psalms 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd, I will not want.
The Greek version, lack means; I will not be left behind
Stumbling forward is knowing His glory is coming!
God help me measure up, help me reach your glory! God says NO!
That’s not how God’s plan works; it was never to make you spiritual enough
Romans 3:24 …justified freely by his grace through the redemption… by Jesus.
When our attempts fall short, we can’t measure up, when we fail; how get up?
Headed wrong way; repent and headed the right way, stumble forward
Some confuse transformation with translation.
2 Cor 3:18 …are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory…
Stumbling can’t be giving up; get up, transforming with ever-increasing glory
But if we fall short, we have an advocate in Jesus who forgives us. Why does this work?
God’s plan is not to give us the ability to reach his glory, instead, he brought it to us
Luke 19:1 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.
He found Zacchaeus; Jesus passed through this world but stopped for me, for you
Zacchaeus climbed a tree; we climb a tree of good works; religion self-belief
Quit reaching for the glory; let the glory fall in your heart; like rain that renews
Stumbling forward is knowing His covering is Jesus!
Our salvation can’t be I know Jesus; can’t reach his glory that way, but in Jesus
Romans 3:25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.
Atonement means to cover over, same word Ark, mercy seat, Movie Power
High Priest toke a tree branch dipped in the blood of a sacrifice and sling it on top
Ark contained Ten Commandments the law that had to be obeyed; cover by blood
Jesus has become our substitute, so we could live in Christ; live in his glory
His forgiveness does not replace the wrath and judgment for sin; it endures the wrath
We could never reach his glory so he brought His glory into us; through Jesus
Can’t there be many ways to God; might be better, but glory only in Jesus
